Vincent Van Gogh (1853 - 1890) created this painting, "Irises", in 1890, shortly before checking himself out of the asylum at Saint-Remy. This is one of four floral still lifes Van Gogh painted during his year-long stay. This painting remained with the painter's mother until her death in 1907.
