The Dance Class by Edgar Degas

$100.00 $70.00

"The Dance Class" by Edgar Degas, circa 1874. The original work, found in the Metropolitan Museum of New York, represents one of his most ambitious paintings devoted to dance. The famous ballet master Jules Perrot (1810-1892) is pictured resting on a long cane, surrounded by 24 dancers and chaperones. Degas spent a lot of time with the Paris Opera Ballet, observing and sketching classes and rehearsals. The Opera's ballet corps was world famous, with 200 performers.

This print is exactingly created in our studio using the finest hot press art paper, then mounted on Baltic birch, and protected with a silky, permanent finish that is as durable as it is beautiful.
