Portrait of Madam X , was painted by American artist John Singer Sargent in Paris ca. 1884. The subject is a young socialite named Virginie Amelie Avegno Gautreau, wife of the French banker Pierre Gautreau. She became notorious in Parisian high society for her beauty and rumoured infidelities. She wore lavender powder and prided herself on her appearance. 

The reverse of this notebook features Sargent's monumental portrait of The famous Wyndham sisters, the three daughters of the Honorable Percy Wyndham, a wealthy Londoner, painted ca. 1899. Complimenting this set is a beautiful pouch showing Edmund Tarbell's elegant painting of peonies from 1925. 

The 7.25” x 10” notebook features 48 pages of rich, creamy white 70 lb acid free paper, and a scuff resistant velvet ultra matte laminate cover, with HD color print. 

The 9” x 4” zippered pouch features poly twill outer fabric shell, lined with natural artists canvas. Black side tab can attach to a key ring.
